| Turkeys free-range on pasture |
|
| We will begin taking orders in July for fresh turkeys to be delivered just before Thanksgiving.
How we raise the birds... The day old poults (baby turkeys) arrive in July, spending the summer and fall months foraging on our lush pastures after a short stay in the brooder (poultry nursery). Like the chickens, they are provided with shelter from the sun, wind and rain, but are free to come and go from these shelters as they please. The turkeys receive around 70% of their diet from forage and bugs, with the remainder of their diet coming from local grains and organic supplements.

The result... We all know that animals raised on pasture produce a superior product to that of confinement raised animals...but of all the species we raise, we think the most substantial difference is in our turkeys. They are wonderful! While this might sound like we are bragging- we don't take much of the credit, we only provide them with lush pasture and they take care of the rest.
About the birds... -The breed we raise is called the "Bronze". Read more about them here. -Our turkeys average 16-22 lbs. and are $3.95/lb. -As we need to know that all of our birds have a "home" come Thanksgiving, we ask for a $25 deposit per turkey. -Turkeys are sold fresh, not frozen. -Heading out of town for thanksgiving? Our turkeys are vacuum sealed and ready for travel.
Things to know about picking up your bird... -We are offering three pick up locations this year: Indy Winter Market- Saturday, November 19th, 9-12 Bardstown Road Market (Louisville) - Saturday, November 19th, 8-12 Our farm in Bloomington- Sunday, November 20th, 2-4 -We suggest arriving toward the beginning of the pick up time if you desire an exact weight. -As we are a small farm with little freezer space, we are not able to hold turkeys after the dates and times specified. Deposit and turkey are both forfeited if turkey is not picked up by the designated time. Please make arrangements to have a friend or family member pick you your turkey if you are unable to do so. -New to preparing a free-range turkey? Don't worry, we provide a wonderful recipe as well as a bundle of herbs to use when preparing your bird.
