Adopt-A-Sheep
At first even I thought it was a silly idea...I mean, who would want to adopt a sheep anyway? I thought I would try it and just see what happened. Well, to even my amazement...the program is a hit! There are many of you out there who dream of someday moving to the country and having a flock of sheep simply for the enjoyment of caring for them as well as using their wool in your own creations. But until that happens why not get as close to that dream as possible? This is what others are saying about our Adopt-a-Sheep program.
"I am very impressed with their program and look forward to receiving my processed fleece in the fall. Matt and Mandy are the kind of shepherds I would hope to be someday." -Roseann M. in Virginia, adoptive mother of Phanuel
"This is the greatest idea since spinning wool! Thanks for sharing your critters and life with us. I hope this brings you as much pleasure as it's bound to bring the rest of us." -Lana in Illinois, adoptive mother of Euodius

There are several choices to be made when adopting a sheep.....
1. Consider the color of wool you would like to work with. Click on white, morrit (brown), grey or black to visit the sheep listed for adoption.
2. Think about what form you want the fiber to arrive in. Would you like to wash and card it yourself or have it arrive ready to spin? If you don't spin you can have it spun into yarn. Felting batts are always an option as well. Click on Program Descriptions & Details to find out what options are available.
3. Look at the project you have in mind for the fiber. Are you wanting to use lamb fleece or an adult fleece? Some participants of our program have elected to adopt a mature ewe and purchase a lamb fleece to be processed with it.
4. Also, consider what experiences you want to share with your adopted sheep. Would you rather hear about the lambs your mature ewe is raising or watch your adopted lamb grow up?
